What is IALP?
The International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics (IALP) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental world-wide organisation.IALP adopts the policy of non-discrimination with respect to race, national origin, religion, handicapping conditions and sex. The organisation works for the benefit of persons with speech, language, voice, swallowing and hearing disorders.
The organisation that has two major subfields, logopedics and phoniatrics, was established in 1924. Through the 56 affiliated national societies from more than 30 countries and the 400 individual members, IALP represents a professional body in human communication of 125.000 specialists. IALP has informative status with UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO, ECOSOC and CIOMS.
Folia Phoniatrica et Logopedica
is IALPs Scientific Periodical, published by S. Karger since 1947. It appears bimonthly and includes, in addition to scientific papers in the field of human communication, information to the membership in the form of IALP News. Special issues of Folia covering specific themes are published under the editorship of chairs of different committees.
