Medical studies 1962-1970 at the universities of Munster (Westf.) and Marburg/Lahn in Germany.
1972 - 1976 residency in otorhinolaryngology at Marburg University Clinic (Julius Berendes; Oskar Kleinsasser) and graduation as an ENT specialist with additional certification in the fields of phoniatrics and pedaudiology (Elimar Schoenhaerl).
1976 - 1990 member of the Department of Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology at Marburg University ENT Medical Centre and Deputy Head of the State Logopaedia Training Centre.
1982 - 1990 Acting Head of the Department of Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology at Marburg University and of State Logopaedia Training Centre.
1982 - 1990 State Medical Officer with responsibility for hearing and speech disorders in Hesse.
1989 habilitation in Goettingen.
Since 1990 Head of the Department of Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology of the Georg-August-University in Goettingen/Germany. President of the German scientific society of phoniatrics and pedaudiology. Member of the Swiss society of phoniatrics and logopedics and the Austrian society of phoniatrics, pedaudiology and logopedics.
