Schindler, Oskar M.D., Ph.D., Prof. Prof. Oskar Schindler was born in Torre Pellice (Torino, Italy) on 18.09.1936; he graduated in Medicine at the School of Medicine of Torino in 1961. In 1964 he specialized in ENT.
		He is Associated Professor of Phoniatrics since 1981 and Agent Professor of Audiology since 1997. He is now Director of the University Clinic of Audiology and Phoniatrics of Torino; he is also Director of the Specialization School in Phoniatrics and of the School in Audiometry and of the School in Hearing Aid Fitting. He was founder and first general secretary of the Union of the European Phoniatricians (UEP); he was also founder and first general secretary of the Union of the Italian Phoniatricians. He is member of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics (IALP), where he has been a member of the Board, of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der deutschsprachigen Phoniater and of the Italian Society of Phoniatrics. He is also member of the Collegium Medicorum Theatri (COMET), of which he has been President and Treasurer, and of the Collegium ORL Amicitiae Sacrum (ORLAS). He has since 1967 an active participation in the promotion, science and teaching in the field of Physiopathology of Human Communication. He has published extensively in scientific and medical journals in different languages including Japanese, Russian and Greek and is the recipient of many honours including the Gutzmann Medal.
